Wetlands are a distinct kind of eco systems that is the part of our great bio diversity. Atree and Nellai Nature club along with Muthamil Public School have relentlessly worked for the past several years to protect and conserve our rich Bio Diversity in the districts of Tirunelveli, Tenkasi and Tuticorin. Wetlands are important bird habitats and in order to encourage wetland conservation and restoration, recently Atree organized an inaugural ceremony for Wetland Bird Census at our School grounds. The bird count had been conducted between 29th Jan 2021 and 31st Jan 2021. A large number of volunteers, environmentalists, our school students and teachers enthusiastically participated in this bird count. They visited various water bodies of the 3 districts like ponds and tanks. Around 150 participants sighted around 70 species of birds. We congratulate Atree, Nellai Nature Club and our school students and teachers for their love, concern and awareness they have created among the public for conserving our wetlands which are important biological habitats for wild life.
