We live in a land filled with festivals. In our country every festival is celebrated with joy, happiness and enthusiasm. Festivals have become our part of a tradition and culture. Pongal is the most important festival celebrated in Tamil Nadu. The word Pongal is derived by Tamil literature which means to boil. It is a harvest festival celebrated for 4 days during the solar equinox after harvesting of crops like rice, sugar cane, turmeric etc., The Muthamil Family celebrated merrily and delightfully the Pongal festival. Students adorned themselves in the festive dress and performed the various activities like singing, dancing and also gave speeches on the importance of the festival. There was a special show where in farmer was interviewed by one of our students who explained the importance of farming and steps to be taken for getting a good harvest. Students participated enthusiastically in the online program that was conducted on the celebration of Pongal. The different aspects of Pongal like Bhogi, Thai, Mattu Pongal and Kanum Pongal were reflected in the activities that students performed online. Thus the ceremonial thanks giving festival was filled with all gladness.
